Specialty Learning Plans

These learning plans combine both the diagnostic and the procedural coding training into a complete specialty training. These trainings are designed to instruct the learner in the use of the ICD-10-CM coding system as it pertains to specialty translation of common diseases into numeric codes for the specialty they are interested in. This training also contains the procedural training that provides the learner with training regarding the correct application of ICD-10-CM, CPT®, HCPCS Level II, and modifier coding assignments based on specialty-specific coding and regulations for the specialty selected.

Due to the clinical nature of ICD-10-CM, a strong understanding or experience in anatomy and physiology is required. AAPC’s ICD-10 Anatomy and Pathophysiology training covers all body systems in 14 modules. The curriculum blends online multimedia presentations with downloadable manuals and evaluation quizzes to ensure your comprehension of the material

  • Prepares for increased clinicalspecificity requirements of ICD-10-CM
  • Advanced anatomy andpathophysiology training
  • Teaches how to identify theappropriate diagnosis or condition
  • Covers key areas of challenge posed inICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
  • Select individual modules or the entireseries
  • Up to 14 Hours (14 CEUs)

The specificity of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS requires a more in-depth understanding of anatomy and pathophysiology (A&P). Understanding the structure of the body will assist in finding the correct table to build an ICD-10-PCS code. This course will discuss specific common chronic conditions that will be encountered most often in a practice that also drive quality measures. As payment models shift it is important for coders to have a greater knowledge of clinical conditions. Because ICD-10 has such higher clinical specificity coders must take their skills to a higher level.

14 CEUs (14 hours at your own pace):

  • Downloadable manual
  • Interactive learning
  • Solutions to tough coding cases
  • Hands-on exercises with real-worldcoding cases

This one-day advanced training (8 CEUs) will take your ICD-10-CM coding skills to a higher level. It’s a great way to raise productivity and to refresh skills. Understanding the clinical concepts of commonly treated conditions will help you readily assign the correct codes and effectively work with clinicians.

Hands-on training includes coding for conditions such as:

  • Clinical concepts for comprehensive codingof conditions

Coding Workshops

Virtual workshops provide in-depth information on critical topics within the business of healthcare. Get hands-on experience through interactive exercises and online discussions led by industry experts. These events allow attendees to interact with presenters to discuss the unique challenges they face, all from the convenience of your home or office. Workshop recordings are available on-demand shortly after live presentations are completed.

Preparing for 700+ code updates is more than just learning what has changed. You need to recognize why they've changed, how to apply the new codes, and what should be documented to support them. Our half-day, interactive workshop will provide personalized, in-depth instruction with hands-on application of the coming CPT® code and guideline changes.

Overview:

  • Learn how to apply the updates to commoncoding cases (hands-on exercises with expertpresenters)
  • Understand the ICD-10 coding concepts tosupport the new CPT® codes
  • Identify potential coding mistakes that willimpact revenue as a result of these changes
  • Get your office compliant ahead of the transition
  • Review rationales for all major changes;understand the "what" and the "why"
  • Prepare your provider for compliantdocumentation
  • Receive an in-depth code change manual thatexplains the changes

Planning for the future just got more important to us all with the proposed regulations for MIPS/MACRA. It’s now more important than ever that we get the coding right as it has been determined that our 2017 claims data will be used for determining payments and decisions for 2019 plans. That means we only have a few short months to bring our practices up-to-date. Many have stated that denials due to unspecified codes have reached record highs, in addition if we don’t correctly capture the specificity needed to combat that we have the added pressure of the new regulations.

Overview:

  • Highlights from the 1400+ new codes that will take effect in October
  • How the new/revised/deleted codes will change your current coding paradigms
  • How revenue cycle and claims data will affectour future
  • Key steps for preparing your practice for MIPS/MACRA through diagnostic coding and CDI
